August 28, 2008 - Led by head coach Bryan Carbery, a trio of UVic Vikes golfers departed for South Africa Thursday, bound for the 12th FISU World University Golf Championships in Sun City, September 2-5.


August 27, 2008 - With a 5-1 victory over the Stanford Cardinal on Wednesday afternoon, the UVic Vikes wcompleted a three-game sweep against NCAA competition in California. The Vikes also defeated the Pacific Tigers and California-Berkeley Golden Bears.


August 27, 2008 - Once again Labor Day will provide a first-look at the UVic Vikes this year. NCAA competition returns to Victoria for the second straight year as McKinnon Gym will host a two-game series against the Pacific Tigers.


August 26, 2008 - The UVic Vikes men's soccer exhibition game against Brazil's Corinthians has been cancelled. The friendly against the Sao Paulo-based club was scheduled for Tuesday, September 2nd.


August 18, 2008 - Alumni of the UVic Vikes rowing team helped deliver Canada a pair of medals at the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing. The men's heavyweight eight won gold, and the men's lightweight four won bronze.


August 14, 2008 - Typically the first week of September has been reserved for NCAA basketball teams making the trek north of the border. However, on September 2nd the UVic Vikes men's soccer team will be going international when UVic's Centennial Stadium hosts Brazil's


August 12, 2008 - Kelsey Anonsen is leaving behind the grass courts for a return to the hardcourt. The former Lambrick Park hoopster is giving up her tennis scholarship at the University of Washington to join the UVic Vikes women's basketball team.


August 7, 2008 - Christina Spence-Proteau, a member of the UVic Vikes women's golf team, is featured in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of the August 11th issue of Sports Illustrated magazine.


July 30, 2008 - When the Beijing Summer Olympics officially kick off in a little under two weeks time, Canada's delegation will include 15 UVic Vikes athletes, coaches, and alumni. Additionally, the Vikes will send swimmer Stephanie Dixon to her third Paralympic Games


July 29, 2008 - Canwest News: Canada's men's coxed pair came from behind to win gold yesterday in the senior world rowing championships at Linz/Ottensheim, Austria.


July 25, 2008 - Parker Lilly, of the UVic Vikes men's golf team, finished second at Friday's BC Amateur Championship, losing in a playoff to North Vancouver's Eugene Wong. Lilly, of Victoria, carded a 2-under-par 68 on the final round at the Marine Drive Golf Club.


July 23, 2008 - The UVic Vikes men’s basketball team's Labor Day game against the Michigan State Spartans has been cancelled. The August 31 game against the Pacific Tigers remains as scheduled.


July 21, 2008 - Eight recruits will join the UVic Vikes women's rowing program for the 2008-09 season, head coach Rick Crawley announced.


July 18, 2008 - When the Canadian Olympic men's field hockey team squares off against the Canadian Under-23 team this Saturday at UVic's artificial turf field, four UVic Vikes will dot the roster of the Under-23 squad.


July 17, 2008 - MacKenzie Downing may not have qualified for the Canadian Olympic team, but at the Summer Nationals, the UVic Vikes fourth-year swimmer defeated Beijing-bound Audrey Lacroix to win gold in the 200m butterfly.


July 14, 2008 - Michael Lee, who boasts over 100 caps with the Canadian Senior National men's field hockey team, will retire as a player and take to the sidelines as the new head coach for the UVic Vikes men's field hockey team.


July 2, 2008 - Next season, a familiar face will be on the sidelines for the UVic Vikes women's rugby team. Brad Skene, who has previously served the program in two separate stints, will take over the reigns as head coach.
