Both men's and women's eights were winners on Sunday. The women's crew opened with a six-second victory over the Rowing Canada Development crew, and the men followed with a huge victory of almost two boat lengths. The Vikes freshman also stole a spot on the podium, surpassing UBC's varsity crew for third place.
The women's team also won the lightweight doubles race, and
Lacey Crawley and
Lara Kemp coasted to victory in the open pair.
The men's open fours won, and had a couple of close finishes. In the open pair, Mike Mason and
Eric Bevan lost out to Vikes alum, and Olympic gold medalist, Kevin Light. In the tightest race of the weekend,
Tom Watson was nipped at the line by Lake Washington's Robert Meenk in the lightweight single.
Stefanie Miklosovic endured a similar fate on the women's side, placing second behind Trish Mara of the VCRC.
The Vikes now head south to Corvallis, Ore. For a dual meet with the Oregon State Beavers.
