VICTORIA - Four members of the UVic Vikes rowing program, and women's head coach Rick Crawley, will represent Canada at the upcoming FISU World Championships in Szeged, Hungary.
#Lacey Crawley#, #Mike Mason#, #Eric Bevan# and #Eric Tremblay# have been named to the Canadian team for the 11th edition of the World University Rowing Championship. This year's biennial competition runs August 13-15.
Mason and Bevan will make up half of the men's four, with the duo helping the Vikes to a national championship title last fall. Tremblay has been selected to the men's pair. Crawley, who helped the Vikes win silver in the eight at the Canadian University Championships, has been named to the women's four.
Rick Crawley has led the Vikes women's program for 28 years and has won eight national titles. In 1992, Crawley was an assistant at the Barcelona Olympic Games, and has also coached Canada at the 1987 and 1991 Pan Am Games, 1993 Commonwealth Games, and 1993 World University Games.
The last time Canada competed at the FISU World University Championships was in 2006 at Trakai, Lithuania. For more information about the championship, visit:
