After a tight loss to Japan and a convincing victory over Hungary in day three action, the Canadian FISU men's rugby sevens team will now compete for the Plate at the World University Games in Porto, Portugal.

The Canadian university side featuring UVic Vikes Adam Timler and Angus MacKay opened day three against a speedy Japanese attack. Canada was down 12-0 before drawing level at half time, but Japan was able to punch in a final converted try to relegate Canada to the Plate competition.

Bouncing back for their second game, Canada trounced Hungary 55-0 to round out the group stages.
