VICTORIA - Both former and current Vikes were in top form at Centennial Stadium on Wednesday night competing in the 24th International Track Classic.
Former Vikes great Geoff Martinson captured first place in the International 1500m event with a time of 3:40:96, narrowly missing out on the 3:39:21 Commonwealth Games standard.
Placing sixth in the event with a time of 3:46:50 was current Vikes runner and CIS gold medalist #Cliff Childs# who smashed his personal best by almost four seconds.
In the Women's 1500m International event, former Vikes runner Ashley Hinther placed fifth with a time of 4:19:65, edging CIS bronze medalist and Vikes' star #Julia Tchanz# who finished the race with a time of 4:22:30.
#Kyle Irvine#, who returns to UVic next season placed third in the Men's National 1500m event with a time of 3:58:52.
Thomas Riva, UVic's top recruit for the upcoming 2010-11 season, captured first in the 800m event with a time of 1:53:32.
