Deb Whitten backstopped the Vikettes to two CIAU National Championships (1989, 1991), and four Canada West titles (1988, 1989,1990, 1992). During the Vikettes' 1989 undefeated Championship season, Whitten allowed only three goals during the entire campaign.
Whitten also had an illustrious career in net for the Canadian Senior National Team, competing in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where Team Canada finished seventh. Whitten also represented Canada at two World Cups and two Pan American Games, capturing silver in 1991 and bronze in the 1995 Pan Am Games.
Whitten gave back to the UVic women's field hockey program serving as an assistant coach to the 1995 championship team.
Whitten graduated UVic with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and later obtained her Masters of Education. She is currently the Vice Principal at Claremont Secondary.
