CORVALLIS, Ore. - The UVic Vikes men's rowing varsity eight continued its dominance this season, capturing a victory over the Oregon State Beavers in a dual meet this weekend.
In the marquee race of the day, the Vikes took an early lead in the eight and weathered Oregon State's counter attack to preserve a 3.34 second victory at Dexter Lake. The Beavers placed fourth at last year's Pac-10 championship.
In the other races Oregon State came away with wins in the freshman eight, freshman four, and junior varsity eight.
It is another banner win for the eight this season, which has also included victories at the Western Canadian Regatta, Canadian University National Championships, and Elk Lake Spring Regatta.
The next test for the Vikes is the Brown Cup, which pits them against rivals UBC. The Vikes have claimed 15 titles in the series and are defending champs. The latest edition takes place at Elk Lake on March 27th.
