OTTAWA - Four members of the UVic Vikes men's and women's soccer teams have been named all-Canadians as the CIS announced its major award winners on Wednesday.
Fifth year strikers #Cole McFarlane# and #Kendra Flock# were named to their respective men's and women's First Team all-Canadian lineups, while fifth-year midfielder #Jackie Snell# and fourth-year defender #Holly Fiddick# both earned Second Team honours.
The CIS announced the all-Canadian teams and major award winners as a prequel to the men's and women's championships, which kick off Thursday with quarterfinal games. The women's CIS Championship is hosted by the University of Toronto, and the men's tournament in being hosted at Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C.

Flock named the Canada West MVP after scoring a league-high 14 goals this season. Her 14 goals was the second highest single-season total in Canada West history and also broke a UVic school record. The Calgary native's 2009 performance was so impressive, she was seconded for the Canadian Senior National team's training camp in Florida, November 3-11.
McFarlane has been named CIS all-Canadian for the third consecutive year. The Calgary native, who was also a five-time Canada West conference All-star, led the Vikes with seven goals scored in 2009. McFarlane's total ranked second in the league. Over the last five seasons, no Canada West player has scored more goals than McFarlane's total of 36.
The all-Canadian recognition is the second straight for Fiddick. The Victoria native anchored the Vikes backline that allowed a league-low seven goals in 2009. Fiddick played in every minute of every game this season, and is also a two-time CIS Championship All-Star.
Snell was named all-Canadian for the first team in her five years at UVic. The team captain led the Vikes with six assists, and also scored once. The Victoria native established herself as one of the best two-way players in the country at the midfield position.
