SEATTLE - #Daniel Mallie# and #Julia Tschanz#, of the UVic Vikes men's and women's track teams, reached CIS standards at the University of Washington's Indoor Preview.

In the opening track meet of 2010, Mallie ran the mile in a time of 4:08.87, placing seventh in his section and qualifying for the CIS' 1500m race. Mallie, a senior from Delta, won bronze in the 1500m at last year's Canada West championship.

Tschanz met standard in the 3000m after finishing with a time of 9:41.38, and also placing second in her section. The distance was a step up for Tschanz, who raced in the 1500m last season.

The Vikes will return to Seattle's Dempsey Fieldhouse in two weeks time for the UW Invitational.
