New scoreboard scheduled for installation at UVic

VICTORIA - The University of Victoria's Centennial Stadium will have its new scoreboard installed by the end of the month. The 26-foot scoreboard is scheduled for installation between January 25-28.

The new scoreboard, which is being supplied and installed by Rock Group Canada, will feature a multi-sport scoreboard display and a 12' (h) x 24' (w) LED display that is capable of showing pre-programmed animations and video.

The scoreboard purchase was part of the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) federal funding program, which also included removal and replacement of stadium seating (completed mid-October) and installation of a new sound system (slated for completion by end of January).

The total project cost, which also includes renovations to an adjacent field, is approximately $1 million with the Government of Canada funding one third.

The old scoreboard, which was initially acquired by UVic as part of the Commonwealth Games legacy, will be removed between January 18-22.
