Oak Bay's Pribilsky will suit up for Vikes

VICTORIA - Oak Bay High School point guard and member of the B.C. Under-17 Provincial team, Reese Pribilsky has committed to playing for the UVic Vikes men's basketball team.

"Reese is the top recruit on the Island and one of the top point guards in the province," said head coach Craig Beaucamp. "He's a really dynamic player that can do a lot of things to help us."

Pribilisky is regarded as one of the top prep players in the province, and currently has his Oak Bay squad ranked no. 11 in the B.C. polls. While he has battled injuries his senior year, last season he averaged 20 points and 11 assists per game and was named Island All-star and Third team All-star at the AAA Provincial Championship.

The 6-foot guard has also represented the province, suiting up for both B.C. Under-15 and Under-17 teams. This past summer he also started every game for B.C. at the Canada Summer Games.

"I thought coming to UVic would be a good fit with all the guys they already have on the team, plus some of the other recruits they're bringing in," said Pribilisky, who will be reunited with B.C. Provincial teammate Ted Neilson. "I'm definitely excited."

Vikes fans can get an early look at Pribilisky this Saturday, as Oak Bay will face Pitt Meadows Secondary at McKinnon Gym. Pitt Meadows is the no. 4 ranked team in the province and the game will tip-off at 2:30 p.m., prior to the Vikes men's and women's doubleheader against the Fraser Valley Cascades.
