VICTORIA - The UVic Vikes men's basketball team kept their post-season hopes alive with a 77-67 victory over the no. 7 Simon Fraser Clan, but will now await the results of the late games to determine their playoff fate.
BOXSCORE
Outside of the opening minute, the Vikes led throughout and rode the hot-hands of #Ryan MacKinnon# and #Jeff Cullen# to victory. MacKinnon shot 8-12 and led all scorers with 21 points, while Cullen contributed 14 and also distributed a season-high eight assists.
The Vikes playoff fortunes now hinge on the UBC Thunderbirds and Calgary Dinos. If UBC defeats Trinity Western at home, and the Dinos pick up a road win over Lethbridge, UVic will clinch the wildcard and travel to Calgary for the first round of the Canada West playoffs.

Simon Fraser had already sewed up the second seed in the Pacific and will host a playoff series in two weeks time. On Saturday, Eric Burrell led the Clan with 17 points. Senior guards Sean Burke and Matt Kuzminski added 11 apiece.
Prior to tip-off, #Cyril Indome# was recognized with a senior night send-off, and afterwards, in his address to the crowd, practically guaranteed victory. The Winnipeg native made good on his promise, scoring 10 points with four 'boards and four assists.
“I have a lot of great memories at McKinnon Gym and it was nice that all the guys came out and did what they could,” Indome said. “We were focused on the process more so than the result and it was nice to come back out on the winning end.”
