VICTORIA - The UVic Vikes men's basketball team's playoff hopes will come down to a coaches' vote.
The UBC Thunderbirds eliminated the Trinity Western Spartans with a 90-83 victory, but Lethbridge pulled off a 58-56 upset of the Calgary Dinos.
Lethbridge and UVic remain tied in the eight wildcard criteria, and the tie-breaker will be decided by a vote amongst non-playoff teams. It is not immediately known how soon the vote will take place.
Either team that wins the vote would travel to Calgary, the no. 1 seed in the Prairie division, for a best-of-three playoff series. The opening round of the playoffs runs February 26-28.
