VICTORIA - The Vancouver Whitecaps are coming to Centennial Stadium to take on the Canada West champion UVic Vikes men's soccer team on March 20th.
The Vikes and Whitecaps will once again renew their annual spring friendly, set to take place at Centennial Stadium on Saturday, March 20th with a 2 p.m. kickoff.
"It's always great to play the Whitecaps," said Vikes head coach
Bruce Wilson. "The game gives our players a chance to play against the best in Canada, and it promises to be a competitive match."
The Vikes are two-time defending Canada West conference champions and owned a 12-6-1 record in the 2009 season. The Whitecaps have won two club championships in the past four years, and this season join the newly formed North America Soccer League. The Whitecaps will make the transition to the MLS as an expansion franchise in 2011.
The two teams first played in 2005 and the Whitecaps own a 3-1-1 advantage in the series. Last year the Whitecaps defeated the Vikes 3-0.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors/students/children, $3 for Lower Island youth soccer members, and can be purchased at Spank-It Sports, Soccer World or day of game.
