Vikes chasing best-ever finish at NAIA Championship

SILVIS, Ill. - With just the final round remaining, the UVic Vikes men's golf team is in position to realize their best-ever finish at the NAIA National Championship.

With 54 holes completed, and the tournament field trimmed to 17, the Vikes enter the final round of competition in seventh place with a team score of 909. The Vikes are 13 strokes off the lead, shared by Oklahoma City University and Malone University.

UVic will be contending for their best-ever finish when tournament play concludes on Friday at TPC Deere Run. The Vikes' previous best was a seventh place standing in 2007.

#Sam Holland# continues to lead the team after firing a 77 on Thursday, bumping his cumulative score to 223 and a tie for 15th place amongst individuals. #Jordan Ediger# carded the team's low round for a second straight day, shooting a 76 and improving his standing to 31st overall.

Other Vikes competitors on the course included #Chase Teron# scoring a 78 to leave him in 104th after three rounds. #James Holland# shot 81 and dropped to 75th, while #Stephen Lane# shot an 86 and fell to 92nd.

The final round of the NAIA National Championship tees off Friday morning at TPC Deere Run.
