FREDERICTION - Heavy rains at Kingswood Park forced the men off the course at the Golf Canada University Championship, but the Anne Balser-led UVic Vikes women's team surged on day two.

Digby, N.S. native #Anne Balser# (75, 74) moved into second place on the individual leaderboard, after shooting a two-over 74 on day two. Basler is one of three UVic individuals to crack the top 10, and the Vikes sit second overall in the team standings.
Rookie #Megan Woodland# (77, 77) shot her second straight five-over 77, moving her into a tie for fifth place, and Port Alberni's #Alyssa Herkel# (81, 75) added a three-over 75 to grab a share of 10th. The low rounds helped the Vikes make up five strokes on leader UBC Thunderbirds, and currently sit 20 strokes behind the six-time champions.
Other Vikes competitors included #Michaela Misener# (80, 83) and #Kristy Chew# (87, 85)
Meanwhile, the men were forced off the course after conditions became unplayable due to heavy rains. The Vikes only completed a handful of holes, and leader Mitch Evanecz was three-under through four.
The men will complete their second round Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. The 72-hole tournament runs through June 3.
