Vikes director of athletics and recreation Clint Hamilton said he is pleased to have Kreek on board to speak at this pinnacle event on the UVic calendar.

"It's always important to have an accomplished member of our Vikes alumni to speak at this event," Hamilton said. "Adam joins the list of excellent speakers for this event including Chris Hebb in 2008 and Steph Dixon in 2010 who spoke to our supporters, alumni, coaches and student-athletes. Heading into 2012 London Olympics year, it is nice to have a successful Olympian to address our audience."

Kreek said he is excited for the opportunity.

"Sport is one of the pillars that keeps our Island society safe and strong," Kreek said. "The higher knowledge and intelligence espoused from our university is another pillar. As an alumni athlete and student, I believe community support of the Vikes Championship Breakfast empowers a positive, forward motion within our lower Island culture."
