VICTORIA - The University of Victoria Vikes celebrated the announcement of 66 student-athletes being named to the 2013 Vikes Honour Roll list on Nov. 27 at the University of Victoria's Faculty Club on campus. In addition, third-year men's rowing team member Isaac Davies (Smithers, BC) was named the 2012-13 Provost Award winner. Davies boasted an 8.50 GPA throughout the 2012-13 school year and is in the faculty of Education.
The Vikes Honour Roll recipients are student-athletes who achieved a minimum of a 6.6 GPA (80%) during the 2012-13 school year, while training and competing at the highest level of sport. This year marks the ninth annual Vikes Honour Roll Luncheon but the first time that an associated $500 Vikes Honour Roll Award has been associated to each award. Thanks to the generous support of the University of Victoria and the apparel and on-campus partnership between Nike, T. Litzen Sports and the UVic Bookstore, a total of $33,000 was contributed to the 2012-13 group of recipients.Â
In addition those student-athletes from sports that compete in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) received an Academic All-Canadian certificate personally signed by His Excellency, the Right Honorable David Johnston, Govenor General of Canada.Â
