VICTORIA- A complete team effort gave the University of Victoria Vikes women's golf team a third-place finish at their first tournament of the season hosted by Northwest Christian at Emerald Valley Golf Club. The tournament was held in Eugene, Ore. on Sept 10-11.
RESULTS
The Vikes were consistent throughout the tournament posting Day 1 and 2 rounds of 318 and 327, finishing third behind UBC and Oregon Tech, who tied for first overall.
First-year Vike Sukriti Harjai led the way for the Vikes, starting off her post-secondary career shooting a 77 (+5) and, ultimately finishing with a two-round score of 160 (+16). Harjai finished eighth overall in the individual standings alongside Melanie Murchison who was also in the Top 10 with a 162.
Rounding out the scores were Quinn Fitzgerald (163), Nicole Gargarella (167) and Rhinannon Jones (172), who all finished in the Top 20.
The Vikes women's golf team will travel to Washington on Oct. 8-9 for the Western Washington Invitational held at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club.
