Cassidy Fernandes, a fifth-year coxswain from Chemainus, B.C., played a key role in the Varsity 8+ boat that had a great showing at the San Diego Crew Classic. Fernandes and the Vikes finished fourth in the Jessop-Whittier Invitational, ahead of perennial NCAA contenders from Washington State University and UCLA.
