Romeo a heartbreaker for Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE - #Miguel Romeo#'s goal in the 18th minute officially eliminated the Lethbridge Pronghorns from postseason contention, as the UVic Vikes men's soccer team notched a 1-0 road victory.

Romeo scored the only goal in bitterly cold conditions, ripping a low-liner into the bottom left corner of the net. It was the first goal of the season for the native of Buenos Aries.

Goalkeeper #Dan Kilpatrick# picked up the shutout, stopping all six shots the 'Horns put on target. The senior from Winnipeg has three clean sheets this season and leads the league in saves.

The victory secured a much-needed three points for the Vikes, who moved into a tie with Alberta for third place in the Canada West standings. Both UVic and Alberta are tied with 19 points, while the top four teams qualify for the postseason. The Vikes are 6-5-1.

The Vikes will have to stave off the Calgary Dinos on Sunday. The Dinos are five points back of a playoff berth with two games in hand. Kick off is 2:45 p.m. in Calgary.
