VICTORIA – Playing in honour of the late UVic Vikes women's rugby team founder Jenny Vincent, the Vikes picked up their first victory of the season with a 32-22 decision over the Calgary Dinos.
Friday evening at Wallace Field was the first edition of the Jenny Vincent Memorial game. Vincent founded the Vikes program, and was the Dinos head coach at the time of her passing last January, succumbing after a brief battle with cancer.
The Dinos opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Brynna Walker ran in for a try followed by Sylvie Mullen making the conversion. The balance of the Dinos scoring came with tries from Samantha Crandell, Kimberly Gould, and Kayla Nelson.

Abby Goodwin# scored a try and Vikes lock #
Randi Hunter# kicked the conversion. The rest of UVic's tries came by #
Chelsey Minter# (2) and #Cassy Stevens#. Hunter made a total of three conversions and two penalty goals to round out the scoring.
The Vikes now look to continue their winning streak against the visiting Alberta Pandas Sunday morning, October 3rd at 11:30am at Wallace Field.
