VANCOUVER - With a 27-20 victory over the UBC Thunderbirds, the UVic Vikes women's rugby team played their way into the post-season, securing a berth in the Canada West Playoffs.
The Vikes overcame an early deficit with three consecutive second-half scores, while shutting out UBC until the final minutes. #

Jesse Olynyk#.

Randi Hunter# also made two conversions and a penalty kick.
Minter, a fourth year prop from Sidney, BC, also scored a pair of trys in the Vikes 32-22 win over Calgary two weeks ago.
By defeating both UBC and Calgary, the Vikes finished the regular season with a 2-2 record. It is UVic's best record since Canada West competition began in 1999.
The Canada West Playoffs will be hosted by three-time defending CIS Champion Lethbridge October 22-24. The Vikes will play the loser of Sunday's Lethbridge and Alberta match.
