VICTORIA –On the strength of goals by Barrett brothers Wes and Gavin, the UVic Vikes men's soccer team recorded their first win of the 2010 season, downing the Fraser Valley Cascades 3-2.

Elliot Mitrou#, heading the ball home in the 19th minute.
The Vikes responded with a pair of goals from the Barrett duo. Younger sibling Gavin tied the match in the 28th minute and Wes converted a penalty kick in the 41st to take a 2-1 lead.
The Cascades drew level just a minute later when Juan Mora Perea hit a long range shot from outside the box.
The go-ahead goal for the Vikes came in the 51st minute when Mt. Doug grad #
Toshi Hayashi# eluded his markers in the air, heading in a corner kick by
Andrew Ravenhill.
The win moves the Vikes to 1-5-1 and drops the Fraser Valley Cascades to 1-6. The Vikes are on the road in Abbotsford next weekend for a rematch with the Cascades. Kickoff for Saturday, October 9 is scheduled for 2:15pm.
