SILVIS, Ill. - The UVic Vikes men's golf team wrapped up four days of intense competition at TPC Deere Run Golf Course, finishing the 2010 NAIA National Championship tied for 11th in the final team standings.

The Vikes had a combined team score of 1215 and shared 11th place with Lindenwood University. Despite improving their standing three spots from last year's tournament, the Vikes still fell shy of realizing their best-ever finish. In 2007, the UVic contingent placed 7th overall.
The Vikes entered Friday's competition in seventh place, but slipped on the final round while powerhouse Oklahoma City University ran away with their seventh national banner. The Vikes finished 31 strokes behind the lead.
Rookie #Sam Holland# narrowly missed the cut on earning tournament-team honours, with the New Minas, N.S. native finishing tied for 21st overall. Holland shot round scores of 72, 74, 77, and 75 to finish with a total of 298, or 18 strokes behind individual winner Justin Lower of Malone University.
#Jordan Ediger# would finish tied for 59th overall. The junior from Calgary recovered from an opening round of 81 to shoot 70, 76 and 81 for a 308 total.
Rounding out the field of Vikes competitors included a 69th place standing from #James Holland# (78, 75, 81, 78) with a total score of 312; #Steven Lane# came in at 75th (77, 74, 86, 76) with a total of 313; #Chase Teron# improved his position on the final day to place 80th (77, 84, 78, 77).
The Vikes will now turn their attention to the RCGA Canadian University Championships, which run May 30 through June 3. This year's tournament is being hosed by Kingswood Park Golf Club in Fredericton.
