VICTORIA – The three-time defending CIS champions Lethbridge Pronghorns defeated the UVic Vikes women's rugby team 63-0 in Friday's home opener at Wallace Field.
Seven different Lethbridge players scored tries for the reigning CIS Champs. 'Horns Fullback Brittany Orr led all scorers with 20 points running in five tries.
B.C. Provincial team member Tiffany Wideen converted four times with the remainder of the 'Horns scoring coming from Brandi Van Eeuwen, Larissa Brown, Juhee Thompson, Kelsey Willoughby, and Sophia Butler.
The Vikes came within inches of the Lethbridge try zone in the second half, as they tried to ruck their way over the line but the 'Horns defence held their ground and the Vikes remained scoreless.
With the win the 'Horns are now 1-0 while the Vikes will regroup and look for their first win of the season as they host Calgary on October 1st at Wallace Field at 5pm.
