VICTORIA – The University of Victoria women's rugby squad will look to win back-to-back games for the first time this season when they play host to Velox Rugby Club, 11:30 a.m., Nov. 9 at Wallace Field, Victoria. The women will be looking to duplicate the success they had against Cowichan RFC where they surprised the visiting squad with a blowout 84-5 victory.
The Vikes looked more like the team many had predicted to see during the 2013 Canada West season before injuries derailed the season following an emotional win over rival Lethbridge Pronghorns, as the Vikes would concede their remaining three games in the season.
The Vikes will look to regular offensive contributors of
Kara Galbraith,
Tiffany Picketts and
Jaiden Parhar to put up points against Velox. The three have contributed on a consistent basis throughout the 2013 season. The Vikes should be well rested having not played since their Oct. 26 victory.
It will be another two weeks before they play on home turf again, when they face Nanaimo in their BC Rugby Union season finale match.
