GWANGJU, South Korea (Team Canada) – University of Victoria's Celina Toth captured her second medal of the 2015 Summer Universiade Thursday, when she and partner Cameron McLean claimed the bronze in the mixed team diving event.

Toth (Victoria, B.C.) and McLean (Winnipeg, Man.) finished the competition with 347.90 points, with Russia (359.50) and Korea (354.70) taking the first two spots. McLean had an impressive 83.60-point second dive, making the difference in the final rankings.
 
"Unlike a synchro event where you really have to work with your partner and create a technique and timing, we do our individual dives one after the other, which is something I had never experienced. And it worked!" said McLean.
 
"I had never been to a competition that has had this event, so we didn't really know what to expect. It turned out pretty well! I think we are both really happy," added the Texas A&M student.
 
"We had a lot of fun today. It was a great way to end the Universiade for us. These are the best results Diving Canada has ever had here and I am really happy to be part of this team," concluded Toth.
 
It was Toth's second medal in four days at the pool. The University of Victoria student had given Canada its first gold medal of these Games with fellow diver Carol-Ann Ware at the 10-metre platform synchronized event on Monday.
 
In the last Canadian diving event of the Universiade, Dylan Grisell of Etobicoke, Ont. finished eighth of the 10m platform final with a total of 357.30 points.
 
About the Summer Universiade

The Summer Universiade is an international multi-sport event that takes place every two years and is second only to the Olympic Games in the number of participating athletes and countries. The Universiade is open to competitors who are at least 17 and less than 28 years of age as of January 1 in the year of the Games. Participants must be full-time students at a post-secondary institution (university, college, CEGEP) or have graduated from a post-secondary institution in the year preceding the event.
