PREVIEW: Vikes travel to Calgary for Canada West Final Four

Oct. 20-22: Victoria Vikes women's rugby vs. Canada West Final Four (Calgary, AB)

Tale of the Weekend

VICTORIA – Fresh off suffering the sting of defeat for the first time this season, the UVic Vikes women's rugby team will look to recover and regroup for the Canada West Final Four, being hosted this weekend in Calgary, AB.

First up for the Vikes is a semifinal game against the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Friday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. Following that game, the team will either play in a bronze medal match on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. if they fall to the Pronghorns or in their third-consecutive Canada West Championship Game on that same Sunday at 12 p.m. if they are victorious.

The Vikes will come into the game against Lethbridge with recent history on their side after they defeated the Pronghorns 59-20 in Victoria on Sep. 29. Third-year Vike Madison Aberg scored five tries in that contest en route to being named both the Canada West and U SPORTS Athlete of the Week.
