PREVIEW: No. 6 Vikes stay home to battle the Pronghorns

Sep. 29: Victoria Vikes women's rugby vs. Lethbridge Pronghorns (Wallace Field, Victoria BC)

Tale of the Weekend

VICTORIA – Two dominant wins for the UVic Vikes women's rugby team have them sitting atop the Canada West standings and ranked No. 6 in the nation as they prepare for a rare Friday night game against the Lethbridge Pronghorns.

Playing the Pronghorns at 5 p.m. on Sep. 29, the Vikes will be looking to make it three wins in a row, while Lethbridge tries to get into the win column for the first time this season.

The Vikes and Pronghorns met just once during the 15's season last year, with Victoria coming out on top 48-10 thanks to a dominant display from their defence.

Last Time Out

The Vikes stayed perfect on the season in more ways than one against the UBC T-Birds last weekend. Victoria once again shutout an opponent as they picked up their second straight win by a score of 82-0.

Lethbridge, who will host the U SPORTS National championship from Nov. 2-5, hung tough with the defending Canada West champion Calgary Dinos, but couldn't pull of the upset, en route to a 42-15 loss.

By the Numbers

59: The Vikes have scored 164 points in two games, 59 more than the rest of the teams in the conference combined.

4: Third-year Vike Madison Aberg scored four tries in the game last week.

10: Sarah Gordon scored 10 of 15 points Lethbridge put up last weekend.
