Toronto, Ont. – Deciding the winner via shootout for the second-straight day, the University of Victoria field hockey team flipped the outcome, topping the University of Toronto with a 2-1 shootout win, Nov. 13, to force a winner-takes-all game three at the U SPORTS National Championships.
HOW IT HAPPENED
35th Minute – UVic 1, Toronto 0
- Intercepting the ball from the Varsity Blues, Chloe Langkammer stayed in front of her defender, drawing the Toronto goalkeeper out and getting her shot off, sending it to the back of the net for the Vikes lead.
57th Minute – UVic 1, Toronto 1
- Toronto was awarded three-straight penalty corners with just under four minutes remaining in the game. After the Vikes were able to defend the first two, the Varsity Blues tied it on the third.

WORTH NOTING
- Langkammer's goal was the first field goal of the tournament, as the previous two scored both came by way of penalty corner. In addition, Toronto's latest goal also came from a penalty corner opportunity.
- Victoria put all four of its shots on target, led by Langkammer who had three of the four shots.
- The Vikes held Toronto to just one shot on the day.
- Robin Fleming had one save over the course of the game, while UVic forced the Toronto goalkeeper to three on the afternoon.
- Game two of the U SPORTS championship unfolded much like the first: with the Vikes taking the lead, the Varsity Blues tying it late, and a shootout deciding the winner. However, the Vikes were able to shift momentum to their favour, allowing no Toronto goals in the shootout for the win.

"Yesterday we had a tough loss in the shootout but today we came back with our hearts in, so we were ready for anything," said Langkammer. "We worked really well as a team today so I'm really proud of how we responded from yesterday's loss and won it back today."
