Ottawa, Ont. – The University of Victoria men's soccer team begins its 14th U SPORTS national championship Thursday, Nov. 18 in the nation's capital at 10:30 a.m. PT against the University of Montréal.

FAST FACTS
- Coming off their first appearance in the Canada West gold medal match since 2015, the Vikes enter the national championship tournament with an overall record of 8-4-3 and a Canada West runner-up finish.
- UVic will face the Montréal Carabins, the 2021 RESQ Champions. The Carabins hold an 11-3-0 record, and have been ranked in the top-10 in the U SPORTS poll every week during the season, including holding the No. 1 spot.
- The Vikes will be making their 14th appearance at the U SPORTS national championships, with their last appearance coming in 2015.
- UVic and Montréal met in the U SPORTS quarterfinals a decade ago at Centennial Stadium. The Vikes defeated the Carabins, 3-2 (4-2 PK). Tied 1-1 after the first half, both teams added a goal in the second overtime period to send the game to penalty kicks. Victoria would go on to win their next two games and capture the 2011 national championship.
- Following the Canada West championships, Vikes Head Coach Bruce Wilson was named the Canada West Coach of the Year, while Isaac Koch and Evan Libke were named Canada West First Team All-Stars.
- Ian Whibley leads Vikes with eight goals on the season, adding three assists for 11 points. Koch has also tallied 11 points, coming from seven goals and four assists.
