Langley, B.C. – The University of Victoria men's soccer team fell to Trinity Western University, 3-1, Oct. 14 at Chase Office Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
25th Minute – TWU 1, UVic 0
- With Harjot Nijjar running to the top of the box to try and make the save, the Spartans managed to fire off a shot that went to the back of the net for the lead.
40th Minute – UVic 1, TWU 1
- After Hamish Ogden stole the ball back from the Spartans, he found Rees Goertzen to his right, who sent it to the back left corner of the net on the ground to tie the game for the Vikes.
52nd Minute – TWU 2, UVic 1
- The Spartans re-took the lead on an open-net look.
62nd Minute – TWU 3, UVic 1
- On the move, the Spartans found their open man in the box, sending it to the back left corner of the net for the two-goal lead.
WORTH NOTING
- Goertzen's goal marked his first of the season.
- The Vikes and Spartans finished even in shots, 11-11, but Victoria claimed the 8-5 advantage in shots on goal.
- Nijjar recorded two saves for Victoria, while Trinity Western finished with seven.
- Ogden, Jonas Zimmermann, and Fin Tugwell each recorded two shots to lead the Vikes, while Tugwell put a team-high two on frame.
- Victoria now sits at 2-7-4 on the season, while Trinity Western improves to 6-7-2.
