Vikes welcome Dinos for 12th annual Jenny Vincent Memorial Game

VICTORIA – The University of Victoria women's rugby team hosts the University of Calgary for the 12th annual Jenny Vincent Memorial Game, Sept. 18.

ABOUT JENNY VINCENT
  • A pioneer in women's rugby, Jenny Vincent guided UVic through its inaugural season of CIS (now U SPORTS) play.
  • Relocating to Calgary, Vincent worked tirelessly to elevate the Dinos' club rugby team to a varsity one, and led Calgary through its first season of Canada West play in 2008.
  • The Jenny Vincent Memorial Game was started in 2010 between the University of Victoria and University of Calgary to honour her contributions to the two programs.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Vikes are 2-2 against the Dinos in 15s play since the 2018 season.
  • UVic has won the last two matchups between the two sides, both of which were played in Victoria, B.C.
  • Last time out, the Vikes defeated Calgary, 43-10, Sept. 30, 2021 on Wallace Field. 
NEWS & NOTES
  • The Vikes are ranked sixth in the nation by U SPORTS in its latest Top 10 poll, while the Dinos hold the No. 8 ranking.
  • Victoria enters the match 0-1 after falling to UBC, 45-24, Sept. 10.
  • The Dinos come to Victoria with a 1-1 mark, having defeated Lethbridge, 36-17, and falling to UBC, 41-0, Sept. 15.
  • The Vikes recorded four try-scorers in their season opener at UBC in Chloe Hill Huse, Madison Jumeau, Emerald Maze, and Shaye Ogurek.
  • Kira Peary and Alexie Pusch added converts to round out the Vikes' point scorers after one match.
  • Calgary is led by Delaney Aikens, who has two tries through two matches in 2022.
  • Last season, the Vikes won back-to-back Jenny Vincent Memorial Games for the first time since the game's inception in 2010.
