Lethbridge, Alta. - The University of Victoria women's rugby team fought until the end, but came up just short against the University of British Columbia, 10-0, in the Canada West final at Suggitt Field on the campus of the University of Lethbridge.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A UBC scrum in the 17th minute of the game pushed the 'Birds deep into Vikes territory, but a goal line drop sent the Vikes on the offensive. After opting for a scrum to attempt an offensive drive in the 26th minute, the Vikes were unable to secure points.
- The Vikes' defence was able to continuously stop UBC in the first half, sending the game into halftime scoreless.
- A penalty goal in the 54th minute put UBC ahead, 3-0, before the top seed added a try and convert to bring the score to 10-0.Â
- Unable to gain any ground in Thunderbirds territory in the final 20 minutes, the score was finalized at 10-0 in favour of UBC.

- Victoria has not been shutout in a match since Sept. 29, 2013, a 49-0 loss to Alberta.
- The Vikes sit at 4-3Â overall on the season after a 1-1 Canada West postseason tournament.
