Women's rugby heads to Concordia in search of national championship

VICTORIA – The University of Victoria women's rugby team heads to Concordia University for the Canadian University Women's Rugby 7s National Championship, March 26-27. This will be the first running of the event since the 2019 season.

NEWS & NOTES

The Vikes enter the national championship tournament with an overall record of 11-4 on the season, coming off a 4-1 weekend at the Vancouver 7s stop to capture second place in Canada West.
Following the completion of the Canada West season, four Vikes were named to the conference all-star team: Carissa Norsten, Kira Peary, and Summer Blackmore to the first team, and Maelle Reed to the second team.
The 2022 national championship will be the first national title tournament for women's rugby 7s since 2019, when the Vikes went 6-0 to capture the program's second 7s national championship.
Peary leads the Vikes with 128 points on the year (14 tries, 29 converts), a number which also ranks second among all players in Canada West. Norsten leads the Vikes in tries with 17 on the season.
