Women's rugby heads to Canada West Final Four at Calgary

VICTORIA - The University of Victoria women's rugby team heads to the University of Calgary for the Canada West Final Four, Oct. 17-20. The Vikes will face the University of Lethbridge in their semifinal match.

LAST 5 MEETINGS
  • The Vikes are 5-0 against the Pronghorns in the last five meetings between the two sides. Meeting during the 2024 season on Wallace Field, Sept. 12, the Vikes came away with a 54-5 win.
  • Lethbridge's last win in 15s action against the Vikes came Sept. 28, 2014, in a 24-22 victory on Wallace Field.

  • The Vikes enter the tournament as the second seed after finishing the regular season with a 4-1 record, and will face third-seeded Lethbridge (4-2) in the semifinals. Top seed UBC will face fourth seed Calgary on the other side of the bracket.
  • The two semifinal winners will meet in the championship final, and will also represent Canada West at the U SPORTS Championships, Oct. 30-Nov. 3 at the University of Prince Edward Island. The Vikes are coming off their best-ever finish at the national championship in 2023, making it to the championship final and claiming the silver medal.
  • One of two Canada West teams ranked in the U SPORTS Top 10 entering the playoffs, the Vikes hold the No. 7 spot in this week's rankings, having been ranked as high as third over the season. UBC holds the No. 4 spot in the rankings.
  • Victoria finished in runner up position at the 2023 Canada West Final Four, defeating Alberta in the semifinals, 38-12, and falling to UBC in the final, 10-0. The Vikes are in search of their first Canada West 15s conference banner since 2015.
