Women's rugby continues 7s season at UBC

VICTORIA – The University of Victoria women's rugby team heads to the University of British Columbia for the second stop of the Canada West Rugby 7s series, Feb. 9-10.

 NEWS & NOTES
  • The Vikes enter the weekend with a 4-0 record on the year after going undefeated at the Edmonton 7s stop to open the season, outscoring their opponents 114-15, Jan. 19-20.
  • Lucie Romeo and Maggie MacKinnon lead the conference in points entering the weekend, each tallying 37 over the first four matches. Romeo posted seven tries and one convert, while MacKinnon finished with three tries and 11 converts to lead the league.
  • The impressive efforts by Romeo and MacKinnon earned the pair conference Dream Team honours following the first tournament.
  • Once again facing off against Alberta, Calgary, Lethbridge, and UBC, the Vikes will see new competition in Trinity Western at the Vancouver 7s stop.
  • The Spartans will host the final leg of the Canada West 7s series, Feb. 23-24 in Langley, B.C.
