Vikes set to host Pandas

VICTORIA - The University of Victoria women's rugby team hosts the University of Alberta in its final Thursday night match of the Canada West regular season, Sept. 19.

  • The Vikes are 5-0 against the Pandas in the last five meetings between the two sides.
  • Victoria and Alberta met twice in 2023, with the Vikes claiming a 49-0 win on Wallace Field, Sept. 17, and a 38-12 victory over the Pandas Oct. 19 in Lethbridge, Alta. in the Canada West semifinals.

  • The Vikes enter the matchup 2-0 on the season, and having been ranked fourth in the nation in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 poll. The Vikes recently posted a 54-5 win over Lethbridge, Sept. 12.
  • Alberta comes to Victoria with a 2-1 record, most recently defeating Calgary, 28-7, Sept. 13. 
  • Kira Peary was named the Canada West Player of the Week, Sept. 17, following a 12-point performance against Lethbridge consisting of one try, two converts, and a penalty goal. Peary earned the Vikes' second player of the week accolade this season, joining teammate Maya Addai.
  • Addai leads the Vikes with three tries and 15 points on the season, while Peary follows close behind with 14 points from one try, one penalty goal, and three converts. 
  • Three Vikes will be on debut against the Pandas: Aila Norlin, Taylor Morrison, and Kaitlyn Brescia.
