Kamloops, B.C. – Two first half goals propelled the University of Victoria men's soccer team past Thompson Rivers University, 2-0, Sept. 28 at Hillside Stadium.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Achadinha strikes early
- In the 18th minute, a cross from Harry Ritter West on the left side of the field found Mattheus Achadinha running in on the right side near the net. Achadinha knocked the ball over the line to put the Vikes in front, 1-0.
Pearse scores sixth of the season
- In the 41st minute, Matthew Pearse broke away towards to the WolfPack goal. Though his first shot attempt was stifled by the TRU defender, he quickly corralled the rebound and got a second shot off, sending it to the back of the net seal the 2-0 win for the Vikes.
WORTH NOTING
- Mattheus Achadinha's goal marked his second of the season, while Matthew Pearse's was his sixth of the year.
- Victoria out-shot TRU 13-1 in the win.
- With no goals allowed to the WolfPack, the Vikes have now posted back-to-back shutouts and bring their total to eight on the year.
- The Vikes move to 7-1-3 with the win, while the WolfPack fall to 1-8-1 with the loss.
