Victoria, BC – The University of Victoria women's rugby take down provincial rivals the University of British Columbia 10-6, Oct. 4 at Wallace Field.
Thunderbirds first on the board
- Early in the first half the Thunderbirds completed a penalty goal to take a 3-0 lead.
Defensive first half
- Both team's defensive talents were on full display as offensive units were shutdown to end the first half as UBC remained ahead 3-0.
Vikes broke through for first try and the lead
- Sierra Gillis added five to the point column as she completed try at the end of a hard-fought offensive push by the Vikes. With this score, the Vikes jumped out to a 5-3 lead.
UBC took a late lead on penalty goal
- With another penalty goal, the Thunderbirds jumped out to a 6-5 lead in the 76th minute.
Vikes regained the lead in the final seconds
- As time dwindled down the Vikes made one last offensive push. The ball was passed along the try line as they looked for an opportunity to score. In dramatic fashion, Eden Kilgour fought through Thunderbird defenders for the game winning try.

- With the win, the Vikes move to 5-0 while the Thunderbirds fall to 3-2.
The Vikes will return to action at Canada West Final Four in Edmonton, AB, Oct 16 – Oct. 19.
