Victoria, BC – The University of Victoria men's basketball team took down the University of British Columbia Okanagan 103-71 on Oct. 31, at CARSA Performance Gym.
Vikes jumped on the Heat from the beginning
- The Vikes came out strong as they quickly captured a ten-point lead with their tough defence and strong shooting.
- The Vikes were shooting 60.5% as a team in the first half, a large part of why they led 60-37 as the game headed for halftime.
Shooting continued to stay hot as Vikes hit the 100-point mark for the first time this season.
- The Vikes refused to cool down as the bench came in to score 53 points.
- The story of the second half was Ryan Gallagher. Gallagher came off the bench to shoot perfectly from the field (9/9). His nine made baskets made him the scoring leader for the Vikes with his 20 points.
- The Vikes shutdown the Heat in the fourth, holding them to 15 points as a team.
Notables
- With the win, the Vikes move to 3-0 in the regular season, while the Heat fall to 1-2.
- Ryan Gallagher's 20 points are the most he's scored in a game over his three seasons as a Vike.
The Vikes will return to CARSA for a rematch with UBCO, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
