VICTORIA - Canada West announced the 2025-26 schedules in basketball, field hockey, women's rugby, and soccer, June 23-25, setting the stage for the upcoming season for those Vikes teams.
The Vikes men's and women's soccer teams will be the first to have home games in the new season, opening the 2025-26 campaign with a doubleheader against Trinity Western at Centennial Stadium Friday, Aug. 22. The Vikes will host eight home games on the men's side, culminating against UBC Saturday, Oct. 11. The Vikes' women's side will host seven Canada West home games, with the final regular season home game set for Saturday, Oct. 4 against UBC Okanagan. If qualified, both sides begin playoff action the weekend of Oct. 24, with the gold medal match taking place the weekend of Oct. 31. Ontario will host both the men's and women's U SPORTS championships, with the University of Toronto hosting the men and McMaster University hosting the women, Nov. 6-9.
Women's rugby will open the year on the road, heading to UBC Saturday, Aug. 30. The three Vikes home games will take place Saturday, Sept. 6, Sunday, Sept. 21, and Saturday, Oct. 4 at Wallace Field. Coming off two-straight national runner-up finishes, the Vikes will begin their postseason push for the U SPORTS title at the Canada West playoffs, Oct. 16-19, with UBC hosting the national championship, Oct. 29-Nov. 2.
The defending Canada West and U SPORTS champion Vikes field hockey team opens the season with four-straight road games before hosting Calgary, Sept. 27-28, and UBC, Oct. 18-19, at Lynne "Buzz" Beecroft field. The Canada West champion earns a bid to the U SPORTS Invitational Championship, set for Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Basketball will open the Canada West slate at CARSA Performance Gym against Trinity Western Friday, Oct. 24. Hosting UBC Okanagan, Oct. 31-Nov. 1, and Regina, Nov. 14-15, before the winter break, the Vikes open 2026 against Fraser Valley, Jan. 9-10. Closing the regular season against UBC at home, Feb. 6-7, the Canada West playoffs begin the weekend of Feb. 14, concluding with the gold medal games set for the weekend of Feb. 27. The Vikes men look to defend their U SPORTS national title in Calgary at the U SPORTS Final 8, March 5-8, while the women look to earn a spot at the U SPORTS Final 8 at Laval.
