Victoria, BC – The University of Victoria women's rugby team went 4-1 in the second tournament of the Canada West 7s Series on February 7 and 8, played at Wallace Field.
Perfect day one
- The Vikes completed a perfect 3-0 day one of the tournament as they defeated the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, and Trinity Western University.
- In game one, the Vikes shutout the Pandas, dominating a 33-0 game. Five different scorers found the tryzone, showing off how deadly the Vikes' depth can be.
- In the second game of the day, Ivy Poetker went to work, scoring all 19 of the Vikes' points in their 19-5 win over the Dinos.
- In the last game of day one, the Vikes scored 29 straight points to defeat the Spartans 29-7.
Vikes go 1-1 on the final day of the tournament.
- The Vikes dominated Pronghorns 33-5, grabbing their fourth straight win and setting up a match with the undefeated UBC Thunderbirds for the tournament title.
- Victoria fell short against the Thunderbirds, suffering a 27-5 loss. The 4-1 tournament showing secured the Vikes a second-place finish.
- Ivy Poetker added two more tries on day two of the tournament. These scores brought her total to eight, crowning her the tournament scoring leader.
The Vikes currently sit second in the Canada West 7s season standings and will travel to Vancouver for the final tournament of the season on March 6 and 7.
