Celebrating success

Vikes women’s rowing continues to excel through commitment, resilience, and strong donor support. This season, the team captured three national medals at the Canadian University Rowing Championships and finished third overall in Canada, reflecting both individual excellence and program depth.

National & local highlights

  • Silver – Lightweight Double
  • Bronze – Lightweight 4+
  • Bronze – Open Women’s Single (1x)
  • Brown Cup champions – reserves defeated UBC to bring the Campbell Dowd Cup back to UVic for the second straight year

These results are the product of daily training, quality coaching, and a strong, competitive team culture.

Your investment in student-athletes

Donor support makes rowing more accessible and sustainable. Today, nearly every varsity rower receives scholarship support, easing financial pressure and allowing athletes to fully commit to training, academics, and personal growth throughout their university careers.

Building for the future

Philanthropy is also enhancing the student-athlete experience through impactful investments—supporting a new eight (the program’s first since 2012), assistant coaching, and high-value development opportunities such as preseason camp at Shawnigan.

Donor-funded nutrition and recovery support at camp improves training quality, fuels performance, and helps establish culture, connection, and momentum before the season begins.

From podium finishes to formative shared experiences, your generosity empowers women’s rowing student-athletes to compete, grow, and succeed—now and for years to come.

From the athletes

Vikes Donor Impact varsity athletes

"The donations to the Vikes Championship Breakfast and Vikes Giving Day have such a big impact for our team. Scholarship support helps take pressure off outside of training, so we can be more intentional with our time by focusing on school, recovery, and showing up fully for our teammates. Equipment and travel funds allow us to train and do selection in new boats, as well as travel to camps in Strathcona and Shawnigan. I have made some of my favourite memories with the team at training camp and we wouldn't be able to do that without the support of our donors."

- Sophia Regrossa

“Last summer, we had the chance to train at Strathcona Lodge instead of Elk Lake. We are lucky enough to return this August, which would not have been possible without our gracious donors. It is our supporters who ultimately help grow and develop our program by giving us opportunities like this. Furthermore, donors to the Vikes Championship Breakfast and Vikes Giving Day reduce the financial stress that post-secondary education imposes by providing athletes with scholarships that honour our simultaneous dedication to both sport and academics, a strenuous but heavily rewarding process.

- Violet Schultz

Your generosity propels us forward and empowers our student-athletes to achieve their full potential. Thank you for being a vital part of our journey towards excellence.
