2026 Vikes golf
Celebrating success
Vikes golf continued its proud tradition of excellence this season, competing in elite events across Canada and the United States as NAIA affiliates. Supported by donor investment, both the men’s and women’s programs thrived in high-performance environments that challenge student-athletes to compete at the highest level.
First-year standout Owen Croft led the way, claiming individual gold at the 2025 Canada West Golf Championships and earning a Top 10 NAIA individual ranking for much of the 2025–26 season. On the women’s side, Cindy Koira captured an individual victory at the 2026 Master’s Invite, highlighting the depth and talent across the program.
Building momentum
Donor support also strengthened the program through the addition of assistant coach Michelle McCann, who travelled with the teams throughout the season and enhanced on-site coaching, preparation, and athlete development.
With five new recruits joining the program this year—three women and two men—the future of Vikes golf continues to grow brighter.
Investing in student-athletes
Thanks to generous donor support through the Vikes Championship Breakfast, meaningful scholarship funding was distributed across both the men’s and women’s golf teams. This support reduces financial barriers and allows student-athletes to excel both academically and competitively.
Support from Vikes Giving Day continues to strengthen the program by enabling a robust south-of-the-border tournament schedule as NAIA affiliates. These competitive opportunities are essential for athlete development and are key to attracting and retaining top-tier student-athletes.
From championship wins to expanded competition and coaching support, donor generosity continues to elevate Vikes golf—empowering student-athletes to pursue excellence, represent UVic with pride, and grow on and off the course.
From the team
“Donor support allows my team and me to compete at a high level across Canada and in the United States. A strong competitive schedule gives us the opportunity to reach our full potential while enjoying the process along the way. It also helps support our scholarships, allowing us to focus more fully on being student-athletes.”
- Maguire Lines
“Donor support has made it possible for me to fulfill my dreams and play college golf. From travel to competitions, the impact is immense. It allows me to grow not only as an athlete, but a person who represents UVic with pride.”
