Joining the Vikes in 2014, Julianne Zussman entered her first full season as the assistant coach of the women’s rugby team. A Canadian national 15’s team member with 26 caps under her belt, Zussman helped make Canadian rugby history when the women made it to 2014 World Cup final capturing the silver medal following an upsetting 21-9 loss to England. She also competed at the 2010 World Cup and was on the Canadian national 7’s team from 2011-13. Prior to her international career, Zussman played for McGill University and won the QSSF league back-to-back in 2004 and 2005.
In addition to her impressive playing career, Zussman also provides an abundance of coaching experience. Upon joining the Vikes in January 2014, she helped the team place fourth at the CIS 7’s championships. She also served as the assistant coach of the U20 national team at the 2013 Western Trial Camp and was the head coach of Montreal’s Dawson College Blues women’s rugby team from 2007-10. While at the helm of the Blues, she led the team to three consecutive provincial championship wins.
With the Vikes, Zussman hopes to build a high performance team culture and create an environment for her players to play to the best of their ability.
