Vanessa Fitzgerald was born is New West, BC, She has 1 sibling: Nick Fitzgerald. She is attending Camosun College as a first year student in the nursing program. Vanessa was a captain of the Gleneagle Girls Rugby team, the U18 Untied Girls Ruby team, and the Valley West Provincial Regional Championship team. Vanessa won the Most Valuable Player award in both 2019 and 2020 for the Gleneagle Girls Rugby Team.
