Conference lead within reach - VIDEO PREVIEW

The no. 4 UVic Vikes women's soccer team will have the opportunity to reclaim first place in the Canada West standings when they host the Fraser Valley Cascades this weekend.

GAME INFORMATION
Sat. Oct.17 vs. Fraser Valley Cascades (Centennial Stadium) - 12pm

SCOUTING THE UVIC VIKES
Kendra Flock potted her league-high 11th goal last weekend and is two goals away from tying UVic's single season scoring record set by Ali Bach in 2007. Vikes 'keeper Stephanie Parker recorded her league-high fifth shutout in Langley and handed the Spartans their only loss of the '09 season.

SCOUTING THE FRASER VALLEY CASCADES

With former Team Canada captain and National Team coach Colin Miller taking over the women's program, Fraser Valley has faired well in the '09 season posting a 4-3-2 record. Ellen Kuyer currently leads the Cascades' offence with five goals.

HEAD TO HEAD

The Cascades have not beaten the Vikes since joining the Canada West conference in 2006. Earlier this season, the Vikes handed their mainland rivals a 3-1 defeat to kick off the 2009 season.
