Flock snaps no. 1 Spartans' perfect record

LANGLEY -  Canada West scoring leader #Kendra Flock# struck twice in the second half to lift the no. 4 UVic Vikes to a 2-1 victory over the no. 1 Trinity Western Spartans. The Vikes victory spoils the defending CIS champion's perfect record.

The Vikes overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to hand Trinity Western their first loss since the 2008 Canada West championship, which UVic won 1-0 on penalty kicks. The Vikes now top the Canada West standings with a 6-1-1 record, while Trinity Western falls to 6-1-0.

Flock scored in the 56th and 68th minutes, to boost her league-leading scoring total to 11 goals in eight games. The fifth-year senior from Calgary moves within two goals of tying the school record, set by Alli Bach in 2007, with six games remaining.

Trinity Western's Melissa Mobilio opened the scoring in the 30th minute when she netted her third goal of the season. The Spartans' goal ended 'keeper #Stephanie Parker#'s run of three consecutive shutouts. Parker stopped four shots on target in the win.

The Vikes will look to close out the weekend series when they travel to UBC Saturday night to take on the Thunderbirds. Kickoff is scheduled for 5pm.
